This report by Farshad Fazaeli is based on information published by York Region Transit.

York Region Transit (YRT) has put three Vaughan bus routes on detour because of construction on Edgeley Boulevard, north of Bass Pro Mills Drive. The change took effect on Thursday, October 22, 2026, and will stay in place until further notice, according to the transit agency.

Which routes are affected

The detour applies to three routes that serve the Vaughan Mills area:

  • Route 12 – Pine Valley
  • Route 26 – Maple
  • Route 360 – Vaughan Mills/Wonderland

How the detour works

Northbound buses on Edgeley Boulevard will turn east onto Bass Pro Mills Drive, then turn left to go north on Jane Street, and then turn left again onto the westbound access road into Vaughan Mills Terminal.

Southbound buses will follow the same streets in reverse to get around the construction zone.

Stops that will be missed

Because of the new routing, some regular stops will not be served while the detour is in place:

  • Northbound: stop 4308 will be missed.
  • Southbound: stops 4320 and 6306 will be missed.

Where to board instead

YRT has named alternative stops for riders:

  • Northbound riders can use stop 6304 on Edgeley Boulevard at Bass Pro Mills Drive.
  • Southbound riders can use a temporary stop on Edgeley Boulevard, south of Bass Pro Mills Drive.

What riders should do

Anyone who normally boards at the missed stops should allow a few extra minutes and head to the alternative stop before their bus is due. Trips to and from Vaughan Mills Terminal may take slightly longer than usual because of the extra turns along Bass Pro Mills Drive and Jane Street. YRT has not said when the construction will finish. Riders are asked to check YRT's service updates for changes, or contact YRT for trip-planning help. Toronto Daily will update this story if the detour changes or ends.
